LaPointe Illustration has recently rebranded to Lionheart Graphics. To begin with, "illustration" no longer encompasses everything I do. And hopefully the new name will be easier to spell, which is nice. But why Lionheart? The name started back in my college days- I was playing with an anagram generator and it rearranged "Catherine LaPointe" into "Patience Lionheart". I though it sounded pretty cool, and I used it on my blog at the time, but soon forgot about it (as well as the whole blog idea). After many years it has recently re-entered my mind, because of how well it has represented my journey. I have absolutely needed to learn patience while building my business, as that instant success I was anticipating never materialized. But patience alone won't get you anywhere. If you want something to happen, you need to believe you can do it. Don't take no for an answer. Make it happen. Be bold.
About Catherine LaPointe Vollmer
I grew up in the "North Country," the area of the state above the Adirondack Mountains near the Canadian border. I earned my BFA in illustration from Syracuse University, then returned to the North and now run my home studio on a freelance basis.
I am a fine artist, a children's book illustrator, and a graphic designer. I enjoy dabbling in many different styles of artwork and always have several projects going at once. Creating art is the only thing I can imagine still wanting to do when I am 40, 50, even 80 years old. I plan on never retiring.
